Virginia Chapters

Blue Ridge

The Blue Ridge Chapter includes alumni who live in or near Charlottesville and Culpepper, Virginia. There are always Generals who are in Charlottesville for graduate school. The chapter has put on a strong variety of social events including Happy Hours, Founder’s Day celebration, a Spring Gathering, and Summer Send-off. Almost 300 members make the Blue Ridge Chapter one of great potential.

Lynchburg

The Lynchburg (Virginia) Chapter has over 130 alumni living in or near the city. Recent events includes: a Fly Fishing Day on the North and South Forks of the Piney River in the George Washington National Forest, and an outing to the Lynchburg Hillcats minor league baseball team. Plans are in the works for an event at the D-Day Memorial and the Museum of the Confederacy in Richmond.

Peninsula

The Peninsula Chapter encompasses the Virginia cities of Newport News, Williamsburg, Hampton, and other nearby communities. There are over 150 members. They have recently organized several events, some of them in tandem with the Tidewater Chapter. Most recently, the chapter co-sponsored an event at Norfolk’s Harrison Opera House.

Richmond

The Greater Metro Richmond, Virginia area contains the second largest number of alumni in the country. For obvious reasons, many graduates flock to the state capital to start and nurture a career. The chapter produces excellent events including: a gathering at the Strawberry Hill Races, a reception for the Picasso exhibit at the Museum of Fine Arts, Happy Hour socials, and a recent lecture given by W&L History Professor Holt Merchant called “The Civil War and its Unintended Consequences.” There are more than 1080 alumni living in the Richmond area.

Roanoke

The Roanoke Chapter has over 300 active members from the city and the Blacksburg/Christiansburg area. Over the last year, the chapter has organized a Founder’s Day event, a Winetasting, and a Backyard BBQ. The school is proud to have so many active alumni living in such close proximity to Washington and Lee.

Rockbridge

The Rockbridge Chapter is for our 200 plus alumni group in Lexington and the surrounding county. Many alumni employees of the university are active participants in the chapter. There are about 200 active members of the chapter. Events organized by the chapter have included: Rockbridge Rapids Baseball game, a Founder’s Day, Fancy Dress Dinner, and a Golf Outing.
