Southeast Region


The Atlanta Chapter is for alumni in Metro Atlanta, Athens, Rome, and Marietta. Recent events includes: Happy Hour at Tavern99, a Chapter Business Breakfast, and a special event with the W&L Women’s Lacrosse Team. Atlanta has always been home to W&L students and alumni, and as such, the group remains active and one of our model chapters. There are over 1,200 members.

Central Florida Chapter

Metro Orlando and its surrounding areas are home to the Central Florida Chapter. There are around 100 members of the Central Florida Chapter. The chapter puts on an annual Yield Party for accepted students in the area at the chapter President’s home.

Charleston, South Carolina

The chapter puts on some excellent events each year. This past year the chapter organized an Oyster Roast, and several cocktail receptions. One of the nation’s most beautiful cities, Charleston is home to over 200 alumni chapter members. The majority of chapter members are residents of Metro Charleston and the surrounding areas.

Florida West Coast

Our Florida West Coast Chapter includes the cities of Sarasota and Tampa Bay, along with the surrounding towns and counties. There are approximately 250 alumni members of this chapter. Recent chapter events during the 2010-2011 school year includes cocktail receptions, a visit from W&L President Ken Ruscio, as well as a Founder’s Day get-together.

Ft. Lauderdale

The Ft. Lauderdale Chapter has about 60 graduates in the city’s greater metro area. This year the chapter put together a successful Founder’s Day event. Participants in the Ft. Lauderdale Chapter often participate in events organized by the Miami Chapter.

The Miami Chapter includes around 100 alumni fortunate enough to live in the city and its surrounding areas. In 2011, the chapter organized a Founder’s Day event at the Coral Reef Yacht Club with special guest, Mike Walsh, Special Assistant to the Vice President of Advancement.

Palm Beach

Over 125 alumni are in the Palm Beach Chapter, most of whom are in the city or in West Palm Beach. Recently the chapter held a Cocktail Reception honoring W&L Founders, Robert E. Lee and George Washington, at the Pam Beach Yacht Club.

Palmetto Chapter

The Palmetto Chapter is aptly named for the vegetation found in the lowlands region of sunny South Carolina. Columbia is the center and a great W&L city. Approximately 175 alumni members have sustained a consistently strong chapter. In 2011, the chapter organized a Summer Send-off, a Founder’s Day reception, a Service Day, and also gathered for a tailgate party prior to a local baseball game.

Peninsula Chapter

The Peninsula Chapter encompasses the Virginia cities of Newport News, Williamsburg, Hampton, and other nearby communities. There are over 150 members. They have recently organized several events, some of them in tandem with the Tidewater Chapter. Most recently, the chapter co-sponsored an event at Norfolk’s Harrison Opera House.

South Carolina-Piedmont

Our South Carolina-Piedmont Chapter is active and strong. There are over 200 members who support a strong calendar of chapter events. Most recently the chapter put on a successful Summer Send-off event. The S.C. Piedmont-Chapter routinely creates an entertaining newsletter.

Chapter Blog





The Spartanburg Chapter is one of our smallest chapters with about 50 members. Because of its size, the chapter often coordinates events with the S.C. Piedmont Chapter like they did for a Winetasting event in 2011. In 2010, the chapter also hosted W&L President Ken Ruscio.
